Ashley T. Ralph - Product Manager, Tournaments & Scheduling

Job Responsibilities: Ashley is Demosphere's phone support voice. She handles all support calls and makes sure clients understand how to use their Demosphere products. She actively solicits suggestions from clients for product improvement and features enhancements. Ashley is the Tournament/Scheduling Management trainer.

Soccer Experience: While having little soccer experience, Ashley participated in intramural indoor soccer for one semester at George Washington University. She had a perfect season; scoring zero goals. While not a complete insult to the game, she does enjoy watching DC United play. In the summer of 2002, Ashley enjoyed watching the World Cup in London's pubs. Turns out an equal amount of drinking and yelling occurs when England plays Argentina…or anyone for that matter!

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Ashley's greatest moment to date is being hired by Demosphere shortly after graduation and adding some much needed estrogen to the office.

Other Information: During her four years at George Washington, Ashley was a member of the Colonials Dance Team, the First Ladies. She is an avid baseball fan and will forever be loyal to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Benjamin A. Jones - Chief Operating Officer

Soccer Experience: Ben began playing recreational soccer at the age of 5 and continued throughout his teenage years playing competitive travel soccer through high school. In 1993, while attending Virginia Tech, Ben first became certified as a soccer referee with the United States Soccer Federation. His referee career matured over the next 7 years.

From 2000 to 2002, he refereed at three US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, three US Youth Soccer Regional ODP Tournaments, one US Youth Soccer National Championship, and one US Youth Soccer National ODP Championship. During this time, Ben also refereed several seasons in the United Soccer Leagues (USL) professional divisions. In 2003, Ben attended the United States Soccer Federation National Referee Certification Camp where he upgraded to a Grade 3 National Referee.

In 2004, Ben began his first season in Major League Soccer (MLS), working 4 matches as a fourth official. Additionally, he refereed several USL First Division matches and was selected to referee the USL Second Division National Championship.

2005 made way for Ben’s debut as a referee in MLS. He completed a strong season with 8 matches as the referee and 5 as fourth official.

In addition to working in MLS, Ben has refereed college soccer for 10 years. Ben regularly works in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US, refereeing ACC, CAA, Big East, and Atlantic Ten conference matches and NCAA tournament matches.

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Attending the 2000 FIFA Club World Championships in Rio De Janeiro.

Job Responsibilities: Brian is responsible for evaluating and applying technology in effective ways to better serve Demosphere’s customers. In addition, he leverages technology to continuously improve Demosphere’s internal processes and empower Demosphere’s staff to accomplish more with more.

Soccer Experience: Brian has played soccer since he was 6. Growing up in the DC area, he started out playing in the Annandale Boys Club League. He then played Travel Soccer for Annandale through U-17. He also played High School soccer for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Brian continued to play NCAA Division III soccer for 4 years at SUNY at Stony Brook.

Other Information: Brian has a wide variety of experience in technology. He has worked in two startups, a public company and most recently as a government contractor. He loves to create useful and beautiful things in code.

In addition to soccer, Brian also enjoys cycling, movies, music, vacations at the beach and being in the moment.

Carol Baker - Vice President

Job Responsibilities: Ms. Baker has been a Director and served as Vice-President since she co-founded the Company in 1990. Over the years she has led the Company’s sales and marketing efforts in the expanding soccer market, and currently serves as a client relationship specialist in utilization review and as member of the Demosphere sales team.

Soccer Experience: Ms. Baker has participated as a volunteer on behalf of a number of nonprofit soccer organizations at the team, club, tournament, league and state levels; she played soccer in a women’s league and co-founded both Soccer News Network and the Washington Soccer Net. Ms. Baker also penned a weekly soccer column as 'Miss Conduct,' which brought together two of her passions, Shakespeare and soccer defending the sport and the sport’s officials in her 'Column for the Better.'

Greatest Demosphere Moments: Highlights include attending the 1998 FIFA World Cup Final and 3 Tenors Concert in Paris, visiting FIFA House in Zurich and attending an AC Milan game at San Siro Stadium, however the greatest moments of all have been witnessing the unbridled happiness and joy of children playing recreation soccer.

Charles Saftner - Vice President

Job Responsibilities: Fully manage, design and develop the Online Registration Product. Charles also manages all online credit card transactions.

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Charles has many fine moments in his 8+ year tenure at Demosphere, however, a major milestone occurred in 2009 as he setup his 500th online registration customer.

Colin Van Dyke - Web Developer II

Greg LaPorta - Graphics Director

Job Responsibilities: Greg is Demosphere’s Graphics Director, having joined the team in 2006. He is responsible for conducting initial design consultations on new accounts. In addition, his responsibilities also include the concept and design of graphics for all new accounts, as well as the management and design of all company-wide marketing materials.

Soccer Experience: Greg played soccer through High School and then played recreationally from his college years on. He currently plays on both Men’s and Co-ed teams in the DC area through NVSL and NVASA.

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Greg's greatest Demosphere moment was joining such a lively and dynamic company back in 2006.

Jaime Martin - Senior Developer

Job Responsibilities: Jaime is a senior developer as well as the product manager for the RosterPro registration system. He is responsible for several key systems used by national, state, league and club clients, including coding, designing and deploying web applications.

Soccer Experience: Jaime is an avid soccer fan and has been playing in amateur soccer leagues in the DC area for the past 10 years. The leagues include men's and coed, outdoor and indoor. With all the different countries in Jaime's family tree, most of them in Latin America, he has a lot of countries to root for in international competitions. But it's rare that one of his countries makes it to a final. Jaime was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel and work at the following FIFA competitions: 1998 FIFA World Cup France, the Men's Olympic Football Tournament Sydney 2000, and the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2001.

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Jaime’s greatest moment was jumping out of the way of Maradona, who was running down the hall by the press box in the Stade de France, attempting to avoid reporters, after the quarterfinal match between Italy and France during the 1998 FIFA World Cup France.

Other Information: Jaime and his wife Lori live with their dog, Mina, in Falls Church, VA. Jaime enjoys playing the bass guitar and is currently in a band. Jaime is also a total comic book geek, but his current storage situation has hindered his comic book collecting immensely. He needs to buy a bigger house.

Jay Baker - President & CEO

Job Responsibilities: Oversees day-to-day operation of Demosphere and directly supports the Tournament and League Scheduling products.

Soccer Experience: Jay has coached his children and area youth since 1980.

Other Information: Jay Baker, a leading technology innovator since 1971, has served as Chief Executive Officer, President and Director of Demosphere since he co-founded the company in September 1990. During that period, Mr. Baker has been responsible for all strategic planning and oversight of the Company's operations. Jay has been responsible for developing some of the first computer-aided design systems and has nearly 25 years of experience in market segmentation, direct response, and geo-demographic analysis applications. Jay has developed turnkey, state-of-the-art proprietary technology systems to implement and manage each client's on-line property. His technologies have streamlined the content and programming management of web supersites in-house and on the field.

Jay's understanding of sport drives the technology that he and his staff develop, providing the most efficient and effective means of servicing on-line properties. Kathleen O'Malley - Office Manager

Job Responsibilities: Kathleen is responsible for the majority of the banking and billing side of Demosphere. This includes accounting, invoicing, payables/receivables, payroll and weekly credit card processing. Additionally, she manages human resources and maintaining day to day operations at the Demosphere House.

Soccer Experience: Kathleen has not played any soccer since elementary/middle school days but she enjoys watching DC United play.

Kris Baker - Implementation Manager

Job Responsibilities: Kris is responsible for the implementation of all new contracts. She coordinates internal resources to help ensure all products are delivered properly and on time. Kris communicates with new customers the status of implementing their products and also acts as the primary point of contact until all purchased products are successfully up and running. In addition, Kris is a member of the Demosphere's Executive Committe and manages some of the accounting and human resources responsibilities within the organization.

Soccer Experience: Kris’s father is a big soccer player, coach and fan and thus Kris came out of the womb with a love for soccer. She has been kicking the ball around since she was able to walk and grew up playing FPYC soccer, Fairfax High School soccer, and then on to club soccer at the University of Virginia. Kris now plays in several adult indoor and outdoor leagues in the DC Metro area. Her goal one day is to coach her daughter and son when they are old enough to play.

Job Responsibilities: As Account Representative, Mike is part of the Demosphere Sales Team, responsible for bringing in new clients to the Demosphere family. From doing live online demos to representing the company at state workshops/trade shows to helping out with marketing efforts.

Soccer Experience: Mike played recreationally growing up in Pleasantville, NY. He also roomed with a member of York's soccer team his freshman year. From there, he got to know and live with a whole bunch of guys on the team throughout his years at York and was a student manager of the team in '04 and '05.

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Getting to know and work with an awesome staff at Demosphere, as well as getting to meet all of our clients at the numerous state workshops we attend. Also, meeting WWE legend IRS on the flight back from the USL show this year.

Miles Baker - Vice President, Product Development

Other Information: Mr. Baker has been with Demosphere since April 1997. He is primarily responsible for the development and management of Demosphere’s service products. Mr. Baker is additionally responsible for the initial graphic design and ergonomics of new accounts.

In 1998, Mr. Baker directly supported FIFA On-Line's activities in Paris during World Cup France '98, and was detailed to London to develop the official web site for Manchester United. In 1994, he worked for Home Team Sports (HTS) as an Assistant to the Producer and studio camera operator for the live weekly television show "Soccer '94" which went from a local program in the Washington, D.C. area, to being broadcast live in six different countries during the 26 weeks prior to World Cup USA '94.

In 1993, Mr. Baker was a Criminal Defense Investigator for the Washington, DC District Court system, where he conducted interviews and investigations for criminal cases. Mr. Baker regularly plays in competitive amateur soccer leagues and is an avid DC United soccer fan.

Sam Brody - Customer Support Specialist

Job Responsibilities: Sam provides support for all Demosphere products as well as training and setup for WebWriter and Webmail. He also collaborates with the graphics department for site adjustments and additions for existing clients.

Soccer Experience: Sam was a capable intramural goalie in college, but was far better at dodgeball.

Greatest Demosphere Moment: Being able to help our wonderful clients on a regular basis.

Other Information: Sam is a big sports fan, especially of baseball. He is a die-hard NY Mets fan who married a Philadelphia Phillies fan.

Soizik Smith - Assistant Product Manager
